Many remaining Lives are truncated, contain lacunae or have been tampered with. Some of the Lives, like those of Heracles, Philip II of Macedon & Scipio Africanus, are lost. He's amongst the earliest moral philosophers. Indeed, he went to great (often tenuous) length to draw parallels between physical appearance & character. He sought to provide rounded portraits, likening his craft to painting. Whereas sometimes he barely touched on great events, he devoted much space to anecdote & incidental triviality, this often telling more about his subjects than their famous accomplishments. As explained in the opening of his Life of Alexander, he wasn't concerned with history so much as the influence of character on life & destiny. ![]() Surviving Lives contain 23 pairs, each with a Greek & a Roman Life, & 4 unpaired Lives. Plutarch's Parallel Lives is a series of biographies, arranged in pairs illuminating virtues & vices. ![]()

Thus she eventually decided to pen down the ideas, which she had floating in her head for so many years. ![]() ![]() Reading the series, made her want to write again. While reading the Twilight series, Helena Hunting was able to connect with the characters and the author. Several years later, Helena was at home with her newly born baby when she decided to read, the Twilight series. Despite her early interest in writing, Helena Hunting did not reveal her passion to anyone. When she was young, Helena loved to draw pictures, especially when she was not sure of the words. As a highly gifted author, Helena Hunting has managed to pen down an exceedingly tender and emotional book series, the Clipped Wings and a brand new romantic and funny book series, Pucked. A USA and New York Times best-selling author, Helena Hunting is known for her unique writing style and contemporary romance novels. ![]() ![]() ![]() This inspired me to use the “art of destruction” in my artworks, however instead of destroying the artwork as a whole I destroyed the canvas on which the painting was created as seen in figure 1.2. In figure 1.1, we see that the face of the man had been destroyed using wax to create the effect of his face being melted. He would then destroy the paintings at specific parts, usually the face of the subject, using wax or even cutting in the canvas. This would work in his favour as the subjects of the artworks were much distorted and therefore making the viewer uncomfortable. Nicola Samori first painted the paintings using oil paints in a baroque style and focused heavily on making the subject really realistic. ![]() ![]() He had a certain moody and atmospheric element to his work which created a sense of mystery, I wanted to achieve that type of mystery within my work. I was inspired by the smouldering intensity of his figurative work and impressed by his dedication to preserve antiquated styles and themes within his paintings. Samori was obsessed with “the art of destruction” which was the bases of my art style.
